For the first time ever, the Rijksmuseum presents a selection from its diverse fashion collection. Designed by photographer Erwin Olaf, six rooms of the Philips Wing of the Rijksmuseum will show Dutch fashion from 1625 to 1960. Beginning with the clothes of the Frisian Orange from the Golden Age, through gowns colourful french silk and shimmering velvet, the Rijks unpack the 18th century, the classical Empire and the queue’s from the Fin de Siècle to 20th century haute couture from Dior and Yves Saint Laurent. Suzan Meijer gives a brief introduction about the exposition and describes some master pieces from the collection and the preparations that have been done during Catwalk.
Evelien van Veen, who has been a fashion editor for Elle and Red before she left to Volkskrant, will tell about what she experienced working in this fashion world, the shows in Paris and all people who are part of the fashion circus. Evelien just got back from Milan and Paris where she published about the fashion shows for Volkskrant. She wonders: what are we going to wear?
