Halloween costumes to wear to the office

Going OTT with Halloween costumes in the office is always a great idea until you’re trying to use a cubicle bathroom and your inflatable dragon outfit keeps getting caught on the handle, or you’ve got to present a meeting and you’re the only one of the people who planned a group costume who actually put in any dedication. To save yourself the hassle (and embarrassment), here’s some low-key costumes that show that there was some degree of effort put in – but not too much.

Witch, vampire, zombie etc

They’re low budget, minimal effort, but definitely as Halloween as it gets. You don’t even have to wear a particular outfit, just stick a witch hat on or put some vampire teeth in and roll out the front door.

Error 404

A classic. All you need is a forgotten t-shirt, with the words “Error 404: costume not found”. It’s been done a billion times before, is minimal effort, and requires absolutely no spending (unless you don’t want deface a shirt you already own), but absolutely no one can argue with it. Sold.

Dwight Schrute

All you need for this iconic character is a suit in the drabbest colours imaginable, a pair of thin framed glasses, and a lot of gel to do the slicked, parted-in-the-middle hairdo. Be sure not to take it too far though. Identity theft is not a joke, Jim.

Basically anyone from Stranger Things

Steve and Robin’s Scoops Ahoy outfits are predicted to be one of the most popular Halloween costumes for 2019. If you fancy adventuring outside of the Scoops Troop, the rest of the show has provided a wealth of iconic looks that are perfect for Halloween.

Wednesday Addams

The perfect go-to when all other costumes have been exhausted and you’ve got no time left to prepare. All you need is the LBD that’s been shoved at the back of the wardrobe and some slick French braids.

Bob Ross

A curly wig and an easel can go a long way. Don’t forget to complete the look by wandering around the office, giving out heartfelt compliments and words of encouragement. Bonus points if you can convince a coworker to dress as a happy little tree.

Your coworker

There’s honestly nothing funnier than dressing up as your coworker. It’s topical, it’s relevant, and it’s highly annoying for the target in question. What more could you ask for?

Patrick Bateman

The easiest, most understated costume of them all. You’ve already got the suit, now just throw on that plastic rain jacket and grab a toy axe – don’t forget to moisturize – and you’re ready to go.
