Within 11 years after the opening of the first location on the Herengracht in Amsterdam, we’re opening our 300th location in Lisbon, Portugal. With this, we’re shaping our ambitions to grow internationally. It’s no coincidence that we chose Lisbon as its latest location. More and more people, both locally and internationally, are becoming aware of the opportunities this city has to offer. Spaces’ DNA fits perfectly with that of the city’s: a buzzing, energetic one that is only found in capital cities.
Valuable export product
The Netherlands and entrepreneurship go hand in hand. So, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that Spaces went beyond the Dutch borders to roll out the concept. The ambitions are limitless. We currently offer over 300 locations in 40 different countries, showcasing our brand on a global level. It has become known globally for its inspiring coworking hubs that offer office spaces for creative minds and companies of all sizes to meet and connect.
“When we started, people called our concept a fad. After a while, it became a trend. With the opening of our 300th location we show the incredible sustainability of the Spaces concept”, says Martijn Roordink, CEO and co-founder of Spaces. “We want to create a working environment where people feel very comfortable. It is awesome that we have now managed to achieve that at 300 locations all around the world.”
This year, Spaces is set to open 160 locations across the globe, showing an annual growth rate of over 100%. The Amsterdam-based business is rapidly conquering the world. “I believe in an urban economy,” says Roordink. “By the enormous growth that we are experiencing, we are able to settle in the most inspiring cities of the world. From Amsterdam to Johannesburg and from Bangkok to Los Angeles.”
Latest stop: Lisbon
And now, Lisbon is being added to this long list of Spaces cities. Lisbon is an authentic city with a beautiful old centre that continues to attract more and more creatives from all across the world. With its varied neighbourhoods, where old meets new, you’ll find an interesting mixture of architecture. It’s a city that inspires and invites everyone to go out and about. It was also without a doubt that the 300th location of Spaces would be in the midst of the heart of the city, at Marquês de Pombal – within walking distance of the bustling Avenida da Liberdade.
