Spaces was founded in 2008 from a need to work in a place that is stimulating, inspiring and fun. As Spaces turned 10 in October, there was a reason to celebrate. Not only did we throw an exclusive party to remember, we also launched an exhibition with artworks that will be shown all over the world.
The Collection
At Spaces, we love to share our distinct taste in art. From these artworks, we take inspiration that stimulates new ways of thinking, boosts creativity and helps clear the mind. Therefore, Spaces launched an Open Call to upcoming visual artists from or living in The Netherlands. Visual artists from all non-digital disciplines (no works with a plug) were asked to submit up to 5 artworks to become part of the unique Spaces collection, Power Of 10. The collection will be spread across 10 key cities all over the world, starting with a grand opening in Amsterdam, followed by a world trip to Spaces locations in Paris, Hong Kong, New York and Brussels.
Rate that art
On October 12th, art lovers, influencers, Spaces members and artists came to celebrate the Power of 10, and they were the lucky ones who got the see the collection first. For the exhibition, we invited a jury to rate the artworks. The jury consists of: Annegret Kellner (curator and chairperson), Marc Bijl (Upstream Gallery), Eelco van der Lingen (Fries Museum), Nienke van der Wal (conservator Cobra Museum & Young Collector’s Circle), Sarah van Sonsbeeck (artist) and Frederique Keuning (creative director Spaces).
