Work where the work takes you

Globe hopping is not just a trend anymore. The world has become, not literally of course, smaller and smaller due to technology providing us almost limitless possibilities for traveling and connecting with each other.  These constant connections make us less restricted to the place where we actually do our work activities. Do you like travel for work or do you like to work to travel?

Endless possibilities

If you see traveling as part of your work and can integrate it with your lifestyle, the possibilities are endless. With remote working no longer being just a trend but more commonplace for many, why have restrictions as to your remoteness? Working in different timezones is a challenge but not a restriction to be able to do your work. Working remote across different continents, only requires a more flexible attitude. But flexibility is key in all facets for those who embrace a “work while traveling m.o.”.  We already discussed the challenges of a digital nomad back in 2016 and many of these are still valid.

Workation

Being aware of these challenges, facing them head on and embracing the life of a so-called digital nomad, is a dream for many. A great way to see if this is the life for you, is by organising a workation. You book yourself a vacation, but you stay available to work by seeking out a satellite office or a co-working space to work from.  During the day you work and are available for your coworkers and clients, in the evening you explore. When the timezones are very different, you swap this around of course – whatever works. This allows you the first experiences of being away from your homebase, working in new, foreign surroundings.

Work can take you places

There are the options of being a digital nomad or taking a workation, however there are also other options of combining work and travel. Disregarding those who work in the travel industry, incidental traveling is a great way for some to stretch their comfort zone. Business trips are tiring but can also boost productivity. Not only by being in new surroundings but also by having face-to-face contact with people you usually Skype or email with. So even if the life of the  digital nomad is not for you, go ahead and book that business trip.

Did you know that that Spaces now has over 80 locations worldwide? So digital nomads, workationeers or business trippers; we welcome you all.
